Manage My Files: Data Cleansing Files BBAS will create four separate data cleansing files for each file processed:
  • Duplicate Record File -- contains duplicate records of your holdings which matched to the Wilson Catalogs or Resources for College Libraries*. File suffix = duptitle. This file will identify duplicate titles within your input file.
  • Invalid ISBN File -- contains holdings which contain an invalid ISBN. File suffix = invalidisbn. This file will identify ISBNs in your input file that are invalid according to the ISBN check digit calculation.
  • ISBN-13 File -- contains the ISBN-13 conversion for all valid ISBNs in your submitted file. File suffix = isbn13.
  • No Match File -- contains all holdings records which did not match to a title in the Wilson catalogs or Resources for College Libraries*. File suffix = non-match. Records in the No Match File do not appear anywhere else in the analyis.
In addition, the No Match File and the Invalid ISBN files contain a column titled “Match Code.” The match code may help explain why a particular input record ended up in the No Match file. The possible values for the match codes are as follows:
  • X - Ineligible for a match – Indicates the input record did not have sufficient information for BBAS to determine a match. For example, the record only had a title and no ISBN, author, or LCCN. There may be records which require cleanup in your catalog.
  • I - ISBN
  • L - LCCN/Author/Title
  • T - Author/Title
  • C - LCCN/Title
  • U - URL
  • N - Eligible for a match, but no match found
A match code with an “R” as the first character means the record matched to an alternate ISBN for the title on the core list. For example, a match code of “RI” means the record matched on ISBN but to a different ISBN for the same title than appears on the core list. These files will be placed in your own FTP directory on the BBAS server. To access these files, click on Manage My Files and then on the File Downloads button. The file naming convention used for these files consists of the File Description followed by an underscore and then file suffix mentioned above. Therefore, the file name for the ISBN-13 file with a file description of “philosophy” would be “philosophy_isbn13.csv”. * Your holdings are matched only against the core lists to which you subscribe. For example, if you subscribe only to Resources for College Libraries, then your holdings will only be matched against Resources for College Libraries.
